Saint Edward the Confessor: The King Who Wanted God More Than the Crown

There is something wonderfully fitting about the fact that Saint Edward the Confessor is remembered on October 13, the same date on which the story of Fátima reached its extraordinary climax in 1917.
One is remembered as a king who placed his earthly crown beneath the authority of God. The other recalls the Mother of Christ calling the world back to prayer, repentance, sacrifice, and conversion.
Saint Edward's life belongs to another century, another kingdom, and another world. Yet the question at the center of his life remains remarkably modern:
What happens when a person possesses power, wealth, status, and responsibility — but chooses to belong to God first?
Edward's answer was his life.
The Edward Crown below is the one used at coronations today but it is more ostentatious than what St. Edward actually wore.
