This is an important conceptual shift. Skin does not appear luminous merely because pigmentation has been reduced. La Prairie White Caviar Pearl Infusion
There is something particularly intriguing about La Prairie White Caviar Pearl Infusion because the brand approaches uneven pigmentation through what it calls multilayered brightness.
La Prairie describes the product as a brightening serum intended to address several types of visible discolouration irregularities, including grey, dark, red and yellow tonal changes. Its formula combines the brand's Exclusive Cellular Complex™, caviar-derived components and brightening molecules in a lightweight pearlescent gel. La Prairie reports instrumental measurements from a 45-person panel after two weeks for its claims around smoothness, brightness and firmness. (La Prairie)
The formulation philosophy is broader than simply attacking a dark spot. Complexion colour is multidimensional.Redness, sallowness, brown pigmentation and surface dullness can coexist, and their combined optical effect may be considerably greater than any single pigment irregularity.

Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, has a well-established role in cosmetic formulations targeting uneven pigmentation. Hexylresorcinol is another ingredient frequently used in premium brightening systems. Rather than relying upon a single aggressive mechanism, the Sisley formula layers several approaches across the pigmentation process.
The brand's current Phyto-Blanc collection also includes a targeted dark-spot corrector, which uses niacinamide, hexylresorcinol, meadow bistort extract and bisabolol. That last mechanism is particularly beautiful from a cosmetic-science perspective.
There are two different meanings of brightening operating simultaneously. One is biological and progressive: improving the appearance of uneven pigmentation over time. The other is optical and immediate: changing the way light reflects from the skin.
